Brandon's Favorite Clothing Brands
A highly requested topic, today I'm sharing some of Brandon's most reached for clothing pieces, brands, and accessories.
This has been an overwhelmingly popular request over the years... and I'm so sorry I haven't done it sooner! Brandon is not an online shopper and I wasn't sure I'd be able to link much of anything for you. He does a lot of shopping locally at Berlin's for Men on King Street. Aside from that, if we happen to see a Peter Millar store while on vacation, we always stop in for him to do a little shopping there as well. He also has recently found some great things at T.D. McMurry in Mount Pleasant. That's pretty much the extent of it, with a few exceptions of course.
He's a pretty simple guy and once he finds a style he likes, he buys multiples and sometimes even in various colors. We sat down together and dissected all of the regulars in his wardrobe. Here's everything you need to know.
Shirt / Loafers / Pants / Jack Victor Jacket / Belt Buckle
PANTS:
Nicer Pants:
Peter Millar Signature Sateen 5-Pocket Pant is what he is wearing above.
These are Brandon's go-to pant. He says they are the best all-around pant because they are dressy enough to wear with a jacket out to dinner, but casual enough to wear with a polo around town on a weekday afternoon. If he's not wearing these, he's wearing jeans (we will get to that next) or a more casual version of these pants (discussed below). The problem is that they release colors (like the white he is wearing above) and then they disappear from stock! The ones he is wearing above are many years old.
Another high point of these pants according to Brandon is that "They are skinny enough to wear with loafers, but wide enough to wear boots, too."
Casual Khakis:
Brandon loves the "Peter Millar Crown Vintage Canvas Five Pocket Pants" and still owns several pairs, but sadly they appear to be discontinued. We both sat down to search the internet for them and agree that the closest next option would be the Peter Millar Fairfield Garment Dyed Denim. That is what he will be ordering next! The fit looks identical and given that they are denim, they have a very similar casual texture as the canvas.
Jeans:
J. Crew Factory Slim Flex Jeans are his preference for when he's wearing a loafer or sneaker.
Tecovas Rugged Standard Jeans are what he wears with boots. Why Brandon loves them: "They are slim above the knee and sit well on his waist, but they are wide enough at the bottom to wear with boots."
Shorts:
J. Crew Factory 7" Flex Chino Short have been his go-to for many years! He places a new order every spring for new ones and then will proceed to wear them for the following 9 months straight.
Lounge Pants:
These joggers by Public Rec have been Brandon's favorite throughout the past year!
SHIRTS:
Dress Shirts:
This is where you'll find the most assortment in Brandon's closet. He buys most of his button downs at Berlin's or occasionally a Peter Millar store.
Upon looking through his favorite dressier shirts, the brands are: David Donahue, Canali, Stenströms, and Peter Millar. (I am so sorry I don't know specifics!)
J. McLaughlin makes one of Brandon's favorite, most versatile shirts, linked here. Without any alterations, it fits super tailored (despite being called a "classic fit") and he likes that the collar and sleeve cuffs are soft, yet they hold their structure nicely. It's versatile enough to be worn with a dress jacket or even with casual khaki shorts. He's wearing it in the photo above!
Casual Button Downs:
J. Crew Slim Flex Oxford is his go-to! He prefers the "slim" version and does not go for the "slim untucked" because after being washed, it gets to be a little too short for him. He said the "slim" works well untucked or tucked.
Two other brands he loves for casual button downs are Orvis and Poncho (he sizes down in both brands).
Polos:
I haven't seen Brandon wear a different polo in years... the brand is Raffi and the style is "The Sherwood." He buys them from Berlins here in Charleston, but I found them online here. 90% of the time, Brandon is seen in a white polo, so it's safe to say that he orders these in bulk! He's a size medium–if anyone is wondering, they run true to size. He likes them because they are soft, but not see through. They also don't have a logo on them, which is his main draw to them.
T-Shirts:
For a workout or a super casual day, this one by Rhone is what he always reaches for. For lounging, he loves this one by LAKE.
JACKETS:
Dress Jackets:
I would say all but maybe two of his jackets are from Berlin's! (This is in no way an advertisement, by the way. He pays full price for everything.) While I don't know any particular styles to specifically mention, I can tell you that some of the brands he owns are:
Canali, Jack Victor, Coppley, Reporter, and Corneliani
He also has several jackets by Peter Millar.
Casual Jackets:
He has worn two jackets by Criquet non stop this past year–their Shacket and their Quilted Pullover. Sadly I am not seeing either on their website right now!
SHOES & ACCESSORIES:
Shoes & Socks:
Stubbs & Wooten makes a favorite loafer of his--specifically their Venetian style, which has more of a structured look. He just got these in Palm Beach and is wearing them in the photo above.
He loves Easymocs for a casual shoe.
For boots, he absolutely loves these by Russell.
Another boot he loves are these by Tecovas.
Belts & Sunglasses:
These Persol sunglasses when a little dressier or these Cordina sunglasses when more casual or needing better eye protection. (This is a local Charleston company!)
This belt in casual instances.
This belt is another casual favorite that can definitely go a bit dressier because of the handsome engraved nameplate. Brandon really likes this company and has their gloves, too. (They do have a dress cut belt as well that is a bit narrower.)
He also has a beautiful gold plated engraved belt buckle from Croghan's and then we ordered a lizard belt to go with it from Berlin's. (Wearing above!)
Random, but with all of this said, he maintains that his favorite piece of clothing in his closet are these overalls by Marsh Wear. Ha!
